A longtime favorite at Ott & Hunter, lyrical flugelhornist Dmitri Matheny returns with his all-star ensemble for an unforgettable evening of music inspired by the golden age of jazz and cinema. Set in our intimate Cabaret Room, this performance is part of Matheny’s acclaimed touring series, Jazz from the Silver Screen—a celebration of iconic film scores reimagined through the lens of jazz.
From noir thrillers to romantic dramas and cult classics, Matheny and his band will perform jazz renditions of beloved themes from An Affair to Remember, Blade Runner, Casablanca, Chinatown, Taxi Driver, The Godfather, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Mo’ Better Blues, Young Frankenstein, Star Wars, Barbie, and many more!
Joining Matheny for this cinematic journey are two of the Pacific Northwest’s finest: Randy Halberstadt – piano/keyboards and Clipper Anderson – bass. Acclaimed for his warm tone, soaring lyricism and masterful technique, American flugelhornist Dmitri Mathey has been lauded as “one of the most emotionally expressive improvisers of his generation” (International Review of Music). An honors graduate of the Berklee College of Music, Dmitri Matheny vaulted onto the jazz scene in the 1990s as the protégé of jazz legend Art Farmer. Since then he has garnered critical acclaim and a loyal international following, touring extensively throughout the United States, Europe and Asia, traveling to 19 countries. With over 100 recordings to his credit, Dmitri Matheny has released 12 albums as a leader. His 2022 release "Cascadia", is a reflection of the natural beauty of the Northwest- "an all-star jazz band featuring some of the most accomplished musicians in the western United States” (All About Jazz). The San Francisco Chronicle calls Matheny “one of the jazz world’s most talented horn players.”

Randy Halberstadt has been a major figure on the Pacific Northwest jazz scene for many years. A multi-dimensional pianist, he is equally at home playing be-bop, Latin, down-home blues, mainstream, free and eclectic jazz. He has performed with Herb Ellis, Terry Gibbs, Buddy de Franco, Matt Wilson, Pete Christlieb, Bobby Shew, Joe LaBarbera, and many others. In 1990, Randy performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival with drummer Mel Brown. Randy has performed with the Seattle Symphony and is the pianist for the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra. In 2015 Randy was inducted into the Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame.

Clipper Anderson is one of the Northwest's leading Bassists. Playing all styles on acoustic and electric bass, Clipper is a composer, studio musician, vocalist and educator. Clipper was educated at the University of Montana, where he studied classical bass under Frank Diliberto and Jazz Workshop under Lance Boyd.
The list of recordings on which Clipper appears is both long and impressive, including five with award winning Seattle jazz vocalist, Greta Matassa. He has recently performed with jazz artists, Micheal Brecker, Dave Samuels, Peter Erskine, Bruce Forman, Tamir Hendelman, Bob Mintzer, Lew Soloff, Bucky Pizzarelli, Benny Golson, Paquito D'Rivera, Phil Woods and Buddy DeFranco. Clipper appears in jazz festivals throughout the Northwest and Canada and has been a featured guest artist, annually, at the Buddy DeFranco/U of M Jazz Festival and the Port Townsend Jazz Festival. He currently teaches jazz bass studies at Pacific Lutheran University.
