Andre Feriante and Swil Kanim join forces to present a powerful show entitled "Storytellers" to take you on an eclectic journey into Native American stories, poetry, guitar and violin improvisations, vocal songs and stringed instruments from around the world. These two masters meet at the intersection of human interconnectedness and honor, the musical collaboration of the two has been described as inspiring and haunting.
Swil Kanim, a classically trained violinist, is a native storyteller, actor, and is a member of the Lummi Nation. Kanim's compositions incorporate classical influences as well as musical interpretations of his journey from depression and despair to spiritual and emotional freedom. The music and stories that emerge from his experiences have been transforming people's lives for decades.
Due to his unique ability to inspire audiences to express themselves honorably, Swil Kanim is a sought-after keynote speaker for conferences, workshops, school assemblies, and rehabilitation centers. He travels extensively throughout the United States, enchanting audiences with his original composition music and native storytelling. His workshops, The Elements of Honor, are attended by people from all walks of life.
Award-winning, Segovia-trained guitarist and composer Andre Feriante has been sharing the gift of music with audiences around the word for 30 years. Beginning with his first concert in Rome in 1979, he has introduced a sensual and contemporary sound to an otherwise traditional genre. His creative blend of classical, flamenco and Brazilian styles speaks to people from all walks of life. Andre’s journey began in Italy, where he was born. At age 13, he heard the flamenco guitar and his life changed for ever.
By the age of 21, Feriante had studied with the great Maestro Andres Segovia in Spain, played concerts in Europe and North and South America, and was part of the music faculty at two colleges. Feriante’s long career has taken him to hundreds of stages, including Seattle’s Benaroya Hall and The Triple Door. Andre’s world view is one of hope, love, and empathy. He hopes the passionate and reflective qualities in his songs will bring listeners inward to discover the similarities among humans, creating more peace and joy in our world.
