Ott & Hunter's sumptuous fine wines and the Wittlich-Chapman Trio featuring Jeannette d'Armand provide the ideal combination to celebrate Valentine's Day weekend in our comfy and cozy cabaret room.
Vocalist Jeannette d’Armand has a rich and varied artistic background. A former soloist for Cirque du Soleil and a current voice instructor at Cornish College of the Arts, she earned her BFA in Acting from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts/Experimental Theatre Wing. Her studies there, as well as subsequent educational and performing experiences in the states and abroad, inform much of her creative life to this day. She maintains an active private voice studio, coaches public speaking and has taught classes at and performed with both the 5th Avenue and Village Theatres. She’s also an accomplished voiceover artist and daughter of the fabulous retired opera singer and Langley native, Gretchen d’Armand.
Gary Wittlich’s (keyboards) interest in jazz was kindled by listening to his father’s dance band rehearsals. Though early on he discovered baseball, golf and girls, he decided to study music seriously and spent forty years in higher education, retiring as Professor Emeritus of Music Theory from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. He has played with all kinds of groups, from big bands often touring the Midwest (among them, Buddy Morrow, Warren Covington, Glenn Miller, and Bob Crosby), to USO tours while in the army, to small groups in clubs. He moved to Langley in 2017, was the keyboardist for the trio Bluesette for several years, and since 2018 has played frequently with guitarist Troy Chapman.
Troy Chapman (guitar) has been a member of and recorded with Pearl Django, a Seattle area group dedicated to the continuation of the style and music of the great gypsy guitarist, Django Reinhardt, who formed the HotClub of Paris in 1934. Troy then formed his own Whidbey Island Django group called The Hot Club of Troy. He is in much demand as a performer on the island and participates regularly at the Django Fest held annually at the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts.
Jonathan Parker Small (bass) has a BM degree in Music from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, and MM DM degrees in Jazz Bass Performance from the University of Illinois. He has studied with Larry Gray, Jim Pugh, Chuck Deardorf, Jim Knapp, Tito Carrillo, Jovino Santos Neto, Randy Halberstadt, Tom Varner Jarrad Powell, Ron Bridgewater, Carlos Carrillo, and Joel Spencer. Jon spent a number of years living in Seattle, during which he played at many of Puget Sound’s iconic venues, among them The Showbox, Vito’s, Triple Door, The Royal Room, The Pink Door, Owl N’ Thistle, Egan’s, Jazz Vespers, and Tula’s. Jon also works as a composer and educator.
