Patterns Fly: Andy Coe + D'Vonne Lewis + Galen Clark - 8 PM
Ott & Hunter is thrilled to announce an evening with Patterns Fly, a group featuring Seattle heavyweights Andy Coe, D'Vonne Lewis joining forces with Portland's Galen Clark for a blend of pocket heavy organ trio funk, jazz and psychedelic mind bending groove music. The resulting sound fuses organ trio influences such as Jimmy McGriff and guitar great Grant Green with danceable high energy funk and soul jazz.
With a rich background in jazz and a joyful enthusiasm for blues and psychedelic rock, guitar maestro Andy Coe is recognized as a deeply intuitive, emotive guitarist. As an architect of sound and style, Coe draws in listeners, making collective exploration and resolution accessible across genres. Born and raised in Seattle, Andy played in the critically acclaimed Roosevelt Highschool Jazz band before going on to graduate from the music department of the University of North Texas. He has played venues and festivals around the country and world ever since.
Andy has performed with many great musicians including Jimmy Page, Duff McKagen, Jerry Cantrell, Kim Thayil, Paul Rogers, Rich Robinson, Reggie Workman, Rashied Ali, Ravi Coltrane, Norah Jones, Stanton Moore, Mike Clark, Bobby Previtte, Skerik, Mike Dillon, Karl Denson, Wil Blades and many others. Currently, Andy resides in Seattle and plays in Skerik’s Bandalabra, Tuatara, McTuff and the Andy Coe Band among others.
Recently seen at Ott & Hunter with Jazz Overhaul, Earshot award-winning drummer and composer D'Vonne Lewis leads the band Limited Edition when he's not on tour with hip hop legends Digable Planets. Over the recent years, D’Vonne Lewis has become one of the most frequently seen and widely respected artists on Seattle’s music scene. As first-call drummer to many musicians, he gigs with styles ranging from jazz, funk, hip-hop, and rock to Brazilian and African.
Aside from his work as an in-demand sideman, Lewis works regularly with his own bands: Triplifried, D’Vonne Lewis’ Limited Edition, and the hard-hitting, cutting-edge, 2014/2015 Golden Ear Award- and 2014 Genius Award-winning band, Industrial Revelation, hip-hop band Digable Planets and Jazz Overhaul.
Galen Clark is a keyboardist, songwriter, producer and educator based in Portland, OR. He leads the soul funk collective Outer Orbit and the groove heavy genre bending band Trio Subtonic. In addition to this powerhouse trio, he frequently tours with Anna Tivel, Sleater-Kinney, Outer Orbit, Sarah Clarke and many others.
