We warmly welcome back the fabulous duo of Richard Russell (sarode) and Anil Prasad (tabla) as they bring an evening of rousing Indian classical/world music to our intimate cabaret stage!  The virtuosic combination of Russell and Prasad amazes and delights as they improvise together with a near-prescient connection. Guided by their common foundation in Indian classical music and their shared enthusiasm for uplifting world music they create an unforgettable atmosphere that ranges from deep meditation to joyful celebration.

Richard Russell is a renowned world music artist who plays a rich variety of styles including Indian ragas, devotional chants and new world music. A long-time disciple of the great Indian master musician Ali Akbar Khan, Russell plays the sarod, a 25-string fretless lute popular in Indian classical music. He has collaborated with a wide range of stellar artists including such luminaries as sarangi master Pankja Mishra, Grammy-winner Nancy Rumbel and Hall of Fame rock guitarist Roger Fisher. He was a member of the ground-breaking world fusion group "Ancient Future" and continues to explore the engaging musical crossover between East & West in his kirtan group "Shantikar" and his world music ensemble, The "Richard Russell Group". His musical creativity is defined by a unique combination of melodic expression and rhythmic refinement, whether playing classical, folk or original compositions.

Anil Prasad is one of the most sought after tabla players in the Pacific Northwest. Whether accompanying Indian classical, jazz, kirtan or fusion he is in constant demand as a multi-talented drummer who can adjust to and compliment almost any style of music. Raised in a musical family, his early introduction to the tabla drums came as an accompanist to his famous mother who was a well-known and beloved sitarist and singer in India. Continuing his studies, his craft was honed and refined by world-famous drummer Zakir Hussain. he He has performed with a wide range of top-tier artists including famed South Indian violinist Ganesh Rajagopalan, Indo-jazz flute great Deepak Ram, ghazal master singer, Azhar Mehmood and the amazing North Indian violinist, Indradeep Ghosh.
