Honza Kourimsky Presents: Jazz In Motion

Experience an evening of vibrant, genre-blending jazz as Czech-born guitarist, composer, and author Honza Kourimsky brings his project Jazz in Motion to Ott & Hunter. Joined by Seattle saxophone virtuoso Alex Dugdale, island-favorite pianist Grant Neubauer, and bassist Baz Stevens (Island Jazz Collective), this performance promises an expressive journey through jazz, blues, and fusion — a musical conversation where rhythm, melody, and spirit move together as one.

Honza has spent the past decade performing internationally across Europe, appearing at world-renowned venues including Ronnie Scott’s (London)The New Morning (Paris), and Jazz Dock (Prague). His music has been featured on BBC Radio 3Jazz FMRFI France, and Classic FM Prague, and covered by UK Jazz News and You and the Music, with editorial recognition on Apple Music’s UK Jazz and Jazz Scene playlists. His work has earned nominations for both the Scottish Jazz Awards and the Peter Whittingham Jazz Award. Beyond performance, he has served as Head of Production for the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival and  DjangoFest Northwest, and is a published author through the Guitar & Music Institute with Tapping Discovered.

Saxophonist Alex Dugdale brings his own powerhouse artistry to the stage. A fixture of the Pacific Northwest jazz scene, Alex is an acclaimed musician, known for his dynamic presence and fluid phrasing. He leads his own project, Funk Shui, and has been featured in major ensembles across the region, performing with the Seattle Repertory Jazz OrchestraRoosevelt Jazz Band, and Seattle Symphony.

Together with Grant Neubauer and Baz Stevens — two of Whidbey Island’s most respected musicians — the group creates a deep and joyful interplay that celebrates the essence of jazz: connection, conversation, and constant motion.

Jazz in Motion is more than a concert — it’s an exploration of how rhythm and harmony travel between people and cultures, blending tradition and innovation in real time. Expect moments of quiet lyricism, hard-swinging grooves, and soulful improvisation — a night where the music never stands still.
